John Vernon Lacey

John Vernon Lacey, 77, died Monday October 6, 2008 at Hospice Savannah. He was born August 13, 1931 in Savannah to Susie Mullen Smith and John Edward Lacey. He was raised by William Reppard Smith of Savannah. Mr. Lacey served in the United States Air Force from 1949 until 1953, and was a lifelong patriot. He worked for SEPCO for 42 years, and retired in 1995 as a plant superintendent.
He is survived by his loving wife of 54 years, Josephine A. Lacey, of Savannah, and five children; Brenda S. Hooper, Marilyn G. Ellison, William J. Lacey, Lori A. McCreery, and Patricia M. Hendrick, all of Savannah. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; Kara and Michael Hooper, Janson and Jarrin McCreery, Brandon and Lacey Ellison, Brad and Lesley Sellars and Kristen and William Lacey; and two great-grandchildren, Brian and Cherish Johnson.
Visitation will be 6:00 to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, October 8, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel with a Vigil service at 7:30 p.m.
Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m., Thursday, October 9, 2008 at Fox and Weeks Funeral Directors, Hodgson Chapel.
Burial will be in Forest Lawn Memory Gardens.
